Days 106 to 113/366

I thought this time, as I am only getting time to post once a week, I would do it in one big post.  Not sure if this is good or not, so let me know what you think.
This week has been very very wet...again.. so the opportunities to take photographs have been a bit limited.  I was inspired by Sweet Pea's photo of Lilli Pillis (Day 105/366) to investigate and photograph all the berries that are in our garden at the moment.  So this week has an abundance of berry photographs.

A break from the berries for a day.  I saw this bright leaf in the gutter whilst on my morning walk in the rain.  We don't have many deciduous trees around here so the autumn leaves are extra special.  I came to Australia from the UK when I was 10 and still love to walk through any crunchy dry autumn leaves, just like I did when I was a child in England. Pity this one was too soggy.

Back to the berries today, in the rain again.  I don't know what this berry/flower is but it is a favourite with the Koel bird that visits us every year.

A fine and sunny Sunday,  so Hubby and I headed out for a drive this morning. He was looking for somewhere to go fishing off the beach, but the seas were just too rough.  The beaches were closed but the lifeguards still vigilant for the foolhardy that ignore the signs.
I did a bit of photo editing of these photos and couldn't decide which one I liked best, so here they both are;

I joined my husband on a trip to sea in his boat today as Autumn is when he is out fishing at least once a week.   I was hanging on tight with one hand trying to take a shot of the spray patterns :)   The weather was beautiful but we didn't catch a fish....although I did see a Hammer Head shark cruising by us!

Being Creative Project - September Theme - Autumn

Spring has arrived in Australia with it's usual mix of hot, cold, wet and/or windy weather.  Autumn is usually much kinder with sunny hot days and cool nights - a welcome relief after the humid nights of Summer.  Where I live in Australia there are not many deciduous trees to show off their Autumn finery, but the few trees that do, never disappoint.

My inspiration for this month's  Being Creative Project by Julia Crossland did come from the traditional colours of Autumn - oranges and golds.   I made a leaf bowl from a pattern by Jill Buckley using three layers of fabric; a rich orange upholstery fabric, a layer of cotton wadding and some heavy gold organza.  The three layers were machine embroidered together.  I did have some trouble with some of the points :( but didn't have the time or the inclination to make another bowl when the family wanted to know what it was supposed to be for!

My second project was a tassle.  I am a bit of a tassle fan so this was a great excuse to add another one to my collection, using bits and pieces I have accumulated over the years.
