My camera has broken, boo hoo

Well, it was on it's "last legs" , but my little camera has finally given up.  Perhaps it knew I was looking for a new camera and just decided to call it quits.  So I haven't been out annoying the wild life for a couple of days.  When I get home from work, I will post you a photo or two from my outing on the weekend to make up for the missing shots, but my daughter has promised I can borrow her cute pink camera until I buy a new one.
So, if anyone has any recommendations for a camera I would be most grateful.  I will have to save up for a while or drop some broad and non too subtle hints for an early birthday present contribution :)

  1. Lol,I haven't posted photos for a few days as my internet time has reached the 'shaped' zone. I have a Fuji S1500 and though it's not exactly a pocket camera it has lots of features, some of which are on-camera cropping, 2 Macro settings and a 'framing' feature - so you have an alternative to zooming, that I use quite a lot. I have difficulty holding fiddly pocket cameras with my arthritis but I can hold the Fuji one-handed with my right hand and operate many of the functions. It's 10 megapixels but I think the later model (S2000)is 12 megapixels. The optical zoom on it is brilliant as are the multiphoto options. It cost me around $450 about 2 1/2 years ago.
    Cheers,
