So my contributions come from a Journal Quilt project I set myself some time ago. It was a quilt block a month and had to have some relevance to the month's happenings. Interestingly some of the blocks had a travel type theme.
Butterflies travelling through the air, inspired by paper butterflies released from on high at a Coldplay concert.
My daughter is a student of dance and this is a hand painted version of her travelling through the air. She is holding a banner which reads "...gravity release me, don't ever hold me down, now my feet won't touch the ground". Words from a Coldplay song (sorry I do love their music!)
And finally a celebration of our purchase of a caravan, which we are sadly now trying to sell so we can put the kids through University (sigh)
Dear Helen,
ReplyDeleteI like your caravan-patchwork! And your dancing daughter is really beautiful! It's a very dynamic painting! I love coldplay, too! The first time I heard it was in the end of a summernight driving in an open cabrio-car on a mountain-street - a feeling of real freedom and the possibility to reach all I want! That feeling is in the painting for me!
Fine!
Have a nice day!

ReplyDeleteGreat works! *hugs* for having to sell your caravan!
What a fantastic idea Helen - a journal quilt. Your daughter looks like she's moving so freely. The butterflies are really colourful. Love the caravan, shame you have sell it - travelling through life affects our finances!

What a lovely idea. I love the idea of doing something each month and putting them all together at the end of the year.
